Home at Last

Friday was like Groundhog Day for the Macs.  We left the airport in Beijing at 6:30 pm and arrive at Pearson at 7:35pm the same day.  The flight was just okay.  Molly slept - if you can call it that- most of the way home.  She tends to pivot and would slide off the empty seat between us.  She would then cry for a bit and eventually fall back to sleep.  I felt bad for the people around us for about 2 minutes - I mostly felt bad for her.  It was a long haul.  I wanted off about 4 hours into the flight.  Add that to the  fact that Air Canada managed to mess up my special meal request and it sums up my flight experience.  I am thankful we won't have to do that distance again for about 10 years.

On a more positive note, André, Laurie and the girls came to meet us at the airport.  I was so happy to see them.  Laurie was so excited to see us, she got teary eyed which in turn got me started. We spent about an hour and a half with them.  Aunt Bonny, Uncle Andy and Alisha also joined the party.  They were picking Alisha up at the airport as well.

We then went back through security and got settled at our gate.  Molly was raring to go!  She kept going around and picking up the garbage to put in the trash can.  BTW, our child is a bit of a clean freak.  She does not like to be dirty.

We boarded the last plan of the night and headed home.  Molly was out before we left the ground.  The 45 minute flight was interesting.  I am so glad Molly doesn't understand English yet.  There were two guys sitting up front chatting.  I could have made some serious cash if I had my swear jar with me.  We didn't pay much attention at first but then one of the guys mentioned he knew Uncle Chad.  I think he coaches football at Concordia University in Montreal.  I never caught the guys name but he is originally from North Bay and went to Chippewa.  Scott would need to check his year books.

When we got off the plane in North Bay, we were met by a small group of friends and family.  It was so nice to see them and finally be home.  I started to cry before we even got into the terminal.  I think it was mostly from happiness and exhaustion.

We finally got settled at home around 1am.  Molly wanted to play so we let her run around until about 3am.  I will admit Saturday was a pretty quiet day.
