Winter Fun

Since we didn't go anywhere hot and tropical this winter, Scott and I have been able to take advantage of all the snow we got this year.

We figure the snow bank is almost 8 feet tall at the end of the road if you count the ditch. We don't know where to put it anymore!

That's a lot of snow!

Family Day Weekend means free ice fishing and OFSC trail pass.  We spent Saturday with the Perron's at their ice shack out a Deep Water Point.  Nadine was home for Reading Week, so she joined us too. Scott caught a perch minutes after we arrived.  It was pretty small.  He also caught a burbot (ling).  It was pretty ugly but I am told they are very tasty.  We stayed out for about 4 hours and had a great time.

Sunday, we decided to venture out on the OFSC trails around the area.  Scott and I packed up and headed out around 1 o'clock.  We lauched out from the Government Dock and headed out towards Callander Bay.

Start your engine!

We toured around the Lakeshore Dr./Birches Rd. trails and turned back towards Cranberry Trail.  We stopped for a hot chocolate at one of the lookout points.  The sun was shining and the wind was blowing.  BBBRRRR! Then we headed out to Callander Bay and a quick stop by the ice shack.  No one was home.  We headed back to North Bay and stopped by Mom's condo.  We stayed for an hour, warmed up and headed back toward the Dock.

Monday, we went out with Wayne, Tina and Jimmy.  We hit the trails hard.  We left from the Stickland's house and rode all the way out to Bonfield, across to Astorville and back towards North Bay.  We stopped at the Crevier Gas Bar on Astorville/Corbeil Rd. for gas and a bathroom break.  It was an awesome day.  The trails were amazing!
