Chinese New Year 2014

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Chinese New Year!

The Year of the Horse started on January 31st. this year.  My brother, sister-in-law and friend were born in the year of the horse.  You can check out this link for more info on the zodiac.

Chinese New Year had a very special meaning to us this year.  We opted to have a small party at our home.  Molly and I spent some time decorating and trying to adhere to some of the customs.  The house was cleaned that week and we both got our hair cut.  (Molly still wasn't thrilled with that prospect - so her bangs are a bit crooked.)

I also sent a card to Molly's foster parents in China with some updated photos.  This got me thinking about sending other cards out since we didn't send any Christmas cards this year. Thank you Tiny Prints for the awesome cards and quick delivery.

Molly also received some wonderful surprises in the mail.  She is one lucky little girl!

Care Package from Cousins Hadley and Reagan Jane

I figured it would be a great time to get some pictures of Molly in her traditional Chinese silk dresses.

During Molly's nap, I ordered the food and snapped some more pictures of our decorations.  Guests started to arrive around 4pm and I quickly put my mom to work cooking some of the additional dishes we were having.  She is the best!!

A great time was had by all!  I would show you but we forgot to take the camera out.  Duh!  So here are my decoration pics.
